Of what we call ‘a bad day’

  • By the time I woke up, my sister was already in the shower, so I had to wait.
  • My hard boiled eggs were runny.
  • I didn’t have time for coffee at home, which means more vending machine crap.
  • I tried to tap my way out of the bus using my office pass instead of the EZ link.
  • I got to work and discovered that Azri was on MC, so I was pretty much swamped all damn day long.
  • I had cramps.
  • I tore a hole in my favourite dress.
  • My toenail fell off. Yes, the whole nail.
  • I had to wait twenty whole minutes in my own lift lobby because the lift went all the way up, stopped at every floor, and then did the same thing on the way back down.
  • I scratched myself pretty badly on my neck.
  • When I removed my nail polish and cut my nails, I realised some of my fingers now look filthy, because the underside of the nail has been stained by the mehndi from Friday night.
  • I very likely twisted my right ankle on my way out of the office.
  • My back isn’t getting noticeably better.
  • The patches I’m wearing show. Which is so unglam.

And that’s just the stuff I remember. It was really really not the best of days.

There were upsides though. I managed to start a new book. I had lunch with my favourite boys who travelled all the way to ulu ass Pasir Panjang from Simei and Tampines because they’re just sweethearts like that. DD didn’t come along. I window shopped online between email floods. And dinner was fantabulous as always. And my sister bought me truffles.

And tomorrow I’ll probably wear one of the million new tops my mom got for me just cos she went overboard while shopping because she missed me.

So what if I only have 9 toenails? Tomorrow I’ll look fabulous, and have a damned good book to keep me company. Life goes on. Till this month’s cellphone bill comes, that is. Then, I’ll probably get a severe putting down from the folks. But hey, we’ll deal with that when it happens eh.
